Urban Flora of Scotland Project: join us for a long weekend to help complete our survey, join us on 13th-16th May 2022
The Urban Flora Project has been running since 2015. The aim is to record the species and habitats in Scottish towns and cities. We’ve visited 231 towns but 170 have still not been visited. We don’t need to visit all towns but we want a good geographical distribution. See the map below (towns defined as places with more than 1000 people).
We need more records from the western end of the Central Belt, north Ayrshire and north Lanarkshire. See the map. Now that Covid precautions have eased we want to resume our field programme.
Our next long-weekend visit is coming up. For the weekend 13th-16th May 2022 we will go to ‘West Coast Towns and Arran’. We’ll be joined by joined by four BSBI Recorders, and we’d like to visit Ardrossan, Saltcoats, Stevenston, Ardeer, Irvine and Lamlash.
If you are a good field botanist and have some free time, please consider joining us. All reasonable expenses for students will be met by the Society.
