Defend Coul Links Again!
The Bot Soc submitted evidence to the Highland Council earlier this year refuting the claim by developers that the biodiversity of Coul Links in SE Sutherland would be improved by being turned into a golf course. (See the Spring 2023 BSS newsletter). Coul is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), a Special Protection Area (SPA) and a Ramsar Site (Wetland of International Importance), so you might think it is well-protected, but apparently not as for a second time the Highland Council has approved development. An earlier application they approved was called in by the Minister and rejected.
Details may be found at the NotCoul.org website and you can add your voice to those asking the Minister to call in the proposal once again by signing up with the RSPB’s campaign here.
