Dundee Lecture 13th Feb The Flora of Jersey
Prof Hamlyn Jones will present and discuss his studies on the Flora of Jersey. Extensive botanising on the island over many years has given him a good understanding of the special features of the Jersey flora and he will contrast this with the plants found in the mainland UK.
Professor Jones is Emeritus Professor of plant ecology at Dundee University, and he is a BSS council member. His interest in botany started at a young age and ultimately led to a career as a physiologist studying how plants work and how they tolerate environmental stresses. Since his retirement he has started to use his extensive collection of plant photographs to develop a visual key suitable for smartphones.
